Under 20 minute post

I have found that I do not post unless I spend a really long time on a post.

Way too long.

SO I just set a 20 minute timer to write this post.

Mike and I spent a lot time talking about and practicing the act of writing this summer while we were on sabbatical. Just the idea of making it a regular part of your life. I wrote a lot of things just for me this summer for the first time in years. Mostly I wrote memories in story form. It was nice to do that and not worry about it being graded or blogged. Just for me and maybe my kids someday.

I remember as a student and a teacher having a hard time getting myself and my kids to JUST WRITE. So often we feel like we really need to have it all figured out to write. I love hearing when authors started writing and were surprised at how their story ended. I love hearing them say that the character changed the story.

So the whole reason I brought this up is to tell you something. My Birthday Sister, LEESA (same birthday and same anniversary week) was a finalist on the Flannery O'conner Short Fiction Award. I love her and her writing. I am so proud of her.

Rock and Roll.

I finished this post way under my 20 minute limit.
